BLACKBURN have decided not to sign on-loan midfielder Carlos Villanueva.
Rovers had a deal to make the Chile international’s signing permanent for £5million as long as it was done by the end of this month.
But Villanueva, 22, has not done enough to convince them he is worth the money.
He is due to stay at Ewood Park for the rest of the season but Chilean side Audax will listen to offers. (The Sun)
SAM ALLARDYCE claims not even moneybags Manchester City could make a big enough bid to prise Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn.
City are poised for a £20million swoop for the Paraguay striker next month.
But new Rovers boss Big Sam is digging his heels in.
Allardyce said: “My feeling is nobody will offer enough money for us to consider selling him.
“Any amount of money is no good to me because there isn’t any amount of players I could spend it on to make Blackburn better than we already are.
“We haven’t had a bid and I hope we don’t get one and that Roque comes back fit and starts scoring goals again.
“The January window can be important to me but it’s not as important as the players who are already here.”
Allardyce read Santa Cruz the riot act after the 27-year-old gave a radio interview hinting he wanted to quit Ewood Park.
Big Sam added: “Roque did an interview he shouldn’t have done and I told him I thought it was really poor timing.
“But I’ve also told him I don’t want him to leave.” (The Sun)
