Nicko:
\"You don´t have to borrow to afford a 45-50 million spree.
You already have Jones´s money and the ´window by window´ injection of cash which can be brought forward.
There WILL be sales as well - some you want, maybe some you don´t.
However to land the players you are currently after - in quality and quantity - it is going to mean 45-50 million being spent.
I am just glad there weren´t messageboards around in the early days of Jack Walker.
No doubt there would have been ######-taking when you tried to buy England´s skipper.
Or worked your way down an all-star list until you got David Speedie.
This is probably the biggest transfer earthquake in these parts since those times. Hold on. It might get bumpy and explosive.
To answer a few questions at once...
VUCINIC - you will know a lot more about that one in the next day or so...it has been a crash course in the size of fees, wages and messing around for the new owners.
MIRANDA - time ticking...still a live project.
RUSSIAN RIGHT BACK - inquiry made, fee quoted...proving tough...but money talks.
LEFT WINGER - inquiry made, other clubs in...a bit expensive and an auction doesn´t help.
Once the Vucinic and Miranda things are settled you will either have two top players or move to the next targets.
When you are going for the level of players currently being pursued you are going to find that other clubs want them too. So it is going to cost. Probably more than anyone bargained for. But with all of the big hitters in just now there is an awful lot of buzz going on.
SAMBA - if he goes it will be for loads...
JERMAINE JONES - still haggling over prices...there is a genuine rival for him too.
It´s busy and a wee bit mental. Let´s leave that as an update for now and getting on with the calls myself. \"
