"Burnley have put their entire squad up for sale as they attempt to balance their books.

The decision has been taken following a shortfall in the club's finances after the collapse of ITV Digital.

Boss Stan Ternent has already released six players since the end of last season.

But the club need to generate funds and some of the club's most prominent players could be sold if the right offer comes in.

"I think I'll have to sell to balance the books and keep us on an even keel," Ternent told the club's official website.

"All the players at the club are for sale at the moment- but that doesn't mean we are going to give them away.

"Selling players isn't easy now, though, because there is a restricted market and even giving them away is not easy because clubs are finding it difficult to pay their wages." "
