Blackburns lengsttjenende spiller svarer på spørsmål fra fansen
Hi Brett, you play in a number of positions, and some of us may think you are at your best at right-back, or even central midfield, but if you had to pick the position you think you are most effective for the team, which would it be? It may not necessarily be your favoured position either. (Babak Golriz, Dubai)
- Difficult question. I´m not sure what my best position is to be honest. I think I have something to contribute in all positions, but if I could choose one, I would probably pick centre midfield. That´s the position I enjoy the most, because I like to be involved in the game as much as possible.
Who is the liveliest player in the dressing room before a game? (Robin Sparkes, Blackburn)
- I think you´ve got to say Dioufy. He´s the liveliest character not only in the dressing room before a game, but in and around the training ground as well. He´s got more to say than anyone.
Are you at 100% fitness? Do you anticipate moving back to Australia after your playing career is over and what are your plans after playing? (Brian Cook, Syracuse, New York)
- Yeah. It´s been over 12 months since I had the knee operation, so I think I´m back to full fitness and physically I feel as good as ever. I definitely anticipate moving back home to Australia. It´s obviously a place I love and I´m very close to my family and friends. I definitely want top head back there to live and possibly even to finish playing there for one or two seasons. I´m not sure yet what my plans are after I retire. As I´m getting a little bit older, I´m obviously starting to think seriously about life after football. I definitely want to have something in place, but I also want to spend some quality time with my family on my weekends off.
Do you have any superstitions and what is your pre-match routine? (Eve Summersgill, Mellor)
- Yes I do. I always put my left boot on before my right. I have done it for as long as I can remember - since I was a young kid. That´s the only superstition I have.
Who was your idol when you were growing up? (Eve Summersgill, Mellor)
- Ryan Giggs. When I was younger, I used to think he was a fantastic player and he still is today. He´s one of the greats. When I watched him, I admired what he did and tried to learn from him.
If you were not a footballer what would you be and did you always want to play in the Premier League? (Yunus Kazi, Blackburn)
- If I wasn´t a footballer, I think I would still be involved in sport in some capacity. Maybe physiotherapy or strength and conditioning, because they always interested me. As a young boy, I always watched the Premiership on TV and it was always my goal to play there one day. I spent three fantastic years in Holland, but I always saw it as a stepping stone to play in the Premier League. Luckily I did well at Feyenoord and here I am enjoying my seventh year in the Premier League.
After seven years at Blackburn Rovers, one can only think that you´re enjoying your time here. And even though you career is far from ending, can you see yourself in a Rovers shirt until the end of your playing days? (Mark Ashworth, Blackburn)
- Definitely. I like to see myself as a loyal player and a loyal person. I´m extremely happy here. Blackburn is a fantastic club, which has treated me very well. So I can´t imagine playing anywhere else, unless I was forced to.
Hi Emo. Which is the most memorable game you have played in since you joined Rovers? (Mohammed Hassan, Stockholm, Sweden)
- I think the game against Chelsea in the FA Cup at Old Trafford. It was a very memorable day. Not just because it was a big match, but the supporters that day were fantastic. It´s a day I´ll always remember.
If you could choose to replay one game from your Rovers career, which one would it be? (Laura Crotty, Blackburn)
- I think my debut versus Wolves. It was a great start to my Blackburn career. I got on the scoresheet and it was a great win as well. So to play that game again would be nice.
Brett. What was going through your mind when we were 2-0 up at Villa Park in the semi-final? Also, how does Blackburn compare to your time at Feyenoord and have you enjoyed your time with Blackburn so far? (Luke Radcliffe)
- At 2-0, I thought we were in complete control and very comfortable. The thought of making it through to the final was very much in my mind. Unfortunately it didn´t end up that way, but I thought it was a fantastic effort by the boys and we were a little bit unlucky not to progress further in that competition. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Blackburn. Both are very good clubs, with great histories. It´s difficult to compare the two, but I couldn´t be happier to spend so many years with both.
Who is your closest friend at Rovers? (Eve Summersgill, Mellor)
- Ryan Nelsen is probably my best mate at the club. We spend a lot of time together - especially in the car to and from training.
How does manager Sam Allaydce compare to the other managers you have played under at the club? (Christopher Ward, Dalton-in-Furness)
- Obviously Sam´s very experienced and has got a lot of great attributes. He is very different in style to others I´ve had. All in all, I´ve been very lucky to have played under so many great manager during my time here.
