Nicko med noen updates:
"A few stories being told all round at the moment...
Allardyce source tells me he is in the frame despite some opposition within the club. Wonder if he would play off Rovers against Sunderland if he is offered it.
Souey has not been contacted...could be making him sweat.
Those were the two in the frame when this kicked off about 10/11 days ago.
I keep hearing there are people on the board who are on opposite sides about these two...some pro, some anti.
There could be others in the frame because I hear all sorts of managers and their agents have been in touch.
A foreign friend tells me Avram Grant says he is in the frame but that Sunderland like him too. Hmm.
Curbishley still a candidate. Yawn"
"It´s maybe a pointer...but I heard that the meeting in Manchester, involving the trustees and the board, decided the next manager did not have to be short-term.
Short-term restricts it to Souey or Sam.
So the field coiuld be more open that it was when those two were first mentioned...within the club I stress. "
"
If you go for Sam or Grant you run the risk of being used...
Just a feeling.
You need to be sure the guy you want is genuine.
In Sam´s case he was unhappy about missing out last time and has a ´lively´ agent.
Grant is also tricky.
I hope this goes smoothly...but I am not counting on it. "
"Rovers rang Grant´s agent three or four days ago...so they can´t be sure who they want. Because before that it was Sam or Souey.
Covering bases maybe.
This is all a bit confusing."
